our culture

In order to be the next generation bank, we believe al khaliji's employee base should be representative of the community in which we live and work.

Qatar and the Middle East is considered home to so many different nationalities and we have recruited over 280 people from 35 different nationalities around the world, including our own backyard.

We consider that acceptance is an element of Trust, and this is one of the key factors in creating a successful diverse work environment. Everyone wants to feel and be accepted. Acceptance is more than just tolerating difference. When you have accepted someone, it is for who and what they are. There is no criticism or judgement, just acceptance.

Being bold and having the courage to be different is important to us. Each employee brings different skills and attributes to our functions and businesses. While we may not necessarily always use them, without them, our business would not function as well. We have a culture of respect for each other's differences and we consider them valuable assets within the organisation. Creativity and innovation springs from differences. The more differences we have, the better we can respond to our changing business needs, enabling us to provide fresh approaches to banking

Approximately 20% of our employees are Qatari nationals and earning their trust is an important step in attracting local talent to al khaliji. We are also earning the trust of the Qatar Labor Department by developing a Qatar Graduate programme. The programme allows al khaliji to sponsor Qatari graduates after they have graduated from university and provides them with a strong learning and development programme to kick start their working careers. So not only will this programme help us earn the trust of the community, it will also contribute to our workforce diversity.

It is up to each one of us to continue to ensure that al khaliji remains an organisation that embraces diversity. Anyone of us can lead and inspire others to embrace and value difference, and accept others. You do not have to be a CEO or an executive manager to make a difference. Everyone has the power to accept, the power lies in your ability to choose to do so.
