al khaliji, the new Doha based bank, today presented the Directors of the American School of Doha with a cheque for QAR 500,000, marking its sponsorship of the school’s new Middle and High School dining room and its new presentation room.

The new facilities have been developed as part of a major campus expansion that involves the construction of new Middle and High school buildings on land adjacent to the existing school, gifted by His Highness the Emir. The new facilities are scheduled to open by July, and will be ready for occupation for the coming September and the start of the new school year.

Representing the American School at the presentation ceremony were Dr Sheikha Sultan Al-Jabir of the Friends of the ASD Foundation; Mrs Diana Untemeyer, wife of the US Ambassador and a key promoter of the school extension campaign; Mr David Pals, Chair of the Board of Directors at ASD and Mr Edwin Ladd, Director of ASD.

From al khaliji, David Proctor, head of the executive team; Holly Joint, Executive Director, Strategic Programmes and Khalid El Miniawi, Executive Director, HR, were present.
They were joined by a party of students who will be among those to benefit from the new facilities late this year.

Mr David Proctor, head of al khaliji’s executive team commented:
"We are delighted to have been able to provide the American School with some of the financial support necessary to realise this important and exciting project. I believe the development of this excellent school reflects the continued growth and ambition of Qatar itself – something that we at al khaliji are very much a part of."
