al khaliji donation supports Qatar Charity aid projects

  • Qatar Charity use al khaliji office furniture donation to support vital local and international community projects

Doha, April 07, 2010 : al khaliji, the Gulf region's 'next generation bank', is the first bank in Qatar to donate unwanted office furniture to help Qatar Charity's local, regional and international community aid projects.

Growth of the bank's core retail and business banking services means refurbishment at its West Bay headquarters to accommodate new staff and state of the art office equipment.

Instead of throwing out its used office furniture, al khaliji chose to present Qatar Charity with a large supply of good quality cabinets, workstations, chairs and other office supplies to support charity organizations.

"Given the challenging economic difficulties experienced in many countries in the region, charities need support now more than ever. Through our Qatar Charity donation, al khaliji is pleased to help underprivileged communities across the region and throughout the world. Locally, we are proud of leading the way in showing how businesses can make a difference within the community". says al khaliji Acting CEO Robin McCall.

The al khaliji furniture donation took place on the 16th of March as the furniture were packaged and sent to industrial area, the agreed location for delivery.

"First of all we would like to thank al khaliji for their kind donation. At Qatar Charity we have dedicated operations to handle such donations from all institutions in Qatar. All items donated by al khaliji will be handled in the best way to support our different charity activities," says Eng. Abdullah Hussain Alnameh, Managing Director and Vice Chairman of Qatar Charity. For perspective, Qatar Charity helps needy people in over 12 countries around the world via development projects and relief activities.

Supporting Qatar Charity is the second initiative al khaliji has undertaken to demonstrate its corporate citizenship in 2010, following the sponsorship and support of Qatari students, in addition to other initiatives which al khaliji will embark on in the coming months.
